(Reuters) - Cloud-based developer Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) Inc negotiates $ 27.7bn acquisition of corporate messenger operator Slack Technologies.
The deal is the largest for Salesforce to continue telecommuting. The Slack acquisition will also increase Salesforce's competition with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT).
Slack shareholders will receive $ 26.79 in cash and 0.0776 Salesforce common stock for each Slack share, or $ 45.5 per share based on Salesforce stock price at close of trading on Tuesday.
The offer represents a 54% premium since the first announcement of the deal talks last week.
Slack shares dropped marginally to $ 43.73 in OTC trading on Tuesday, while Salesforce fell more than 4%.
